We’re a renovation firm working across Cheshire, Staffordshire and south Manchester. Bathrooms, kitchens and full house refurbishments. Plumbers, electricians, joiners, tilers and plasterers, all ours.
That last bit sounds like a small detail and it isn’t. Most renovation jobs don’t go wrong because somebody can’t do the work. They go wrong in the gaps — the tiler who can’t come till Thursday, the sparky who’s on another job, the week nothing happens because everyone’s waiting on everyone else. When the trades are on your own books, you can just put them in the diary.
How we work
No showroom. We haven’t got one and we don’t want one. Showrooms cost rent, staff and stock, and all of that ends up in somebody’s quote. We’ll bring door samples and worktop offcuts to your kitchen table instead, and if you’d rather see finished work than display units, we’ll take you round a recent job.
One number, and it doesn’t move. We come and measure up, then you get a written price. Once that’s signed it’s the price you pay. If we’ve got our sums wrong, that’s ours to sort out, not something we come back to you about halfway through.
A real date, and we stay on site until it’s met. Every contract has a completion date on it, and once we start we’re there every working day until the job is done. If we’re off site for 3 working days running without agreeing it with you first, you can end the contract and pay only for what’s finished. It’s the reason we turn work down when the diary’s full rather than squeezing it in and hoping.
You’ll know who’s coming. Whoever’s running your job is named on the contract with a mobile number, before anyone starts. You won’t get a different face every morning and nobody you’ve never met will turn up expecting to be let in.
Certified and insured. Gas Safe for the plumbing, Part P for the electrics, public liability behind all of it. Certificates go in your handover pack with the appliance guarantees.
Why we set it up this way
Between us we’d worked on plenty of jobs where the customer had already been let down once before we got there. Deposit taken, work started, then weeks of nothing. It’s the single most common story in this trade and it’s got very little to do with skill. It’s scheduling, and it’s subcontractors, and it’s firms taking on more than they can finish.
So we built it the other way round. Our own trades, a price that can’t drift, and a finish date you can hold us to. If that sounds like the way you’d want your house treated, come and have a look at us — we’ll price the job for nothing and you’ll have it in writing within 48 hours of us seeing it.
The bit everyone worries about
Ask around and it’s never really the price. It’s the builder who took the deposit, started, and then stopped turning up. So here’s what we put in writing on every job.
10% to book, then nothing in advance
The going rate in this trade is 10–15%, and homeowners are told to walk away from anything over 25%. We're at the bottom of that range. Pay it on a credit card and Section 75 covers the whole job, not just the deposit — most builders won't mention that. After the deposit, every payment lands on something you can see: your materials in your house, then the work as it's finished.
On site every working day
Once we start, we're there each working day until it's done. We don't take your job on and then vanish to somebody else's for a fortnight. It's the reason we turn work down when the diary's full instead of squeezing it in.
Walk away if we don't turn up
If we're off site for 3 working days running and we haven't agreed it with you first, you can end the contract there and then and pay only for what's finished. In writing, on every job.
